Parent Information
Assemblies
On Monday mornings at 9.15am all students, teachers and parents assemble under the shade shelter for weekly announcements. Students also attend assemblies during the week: K-2 classes at 12.15pm on Fridays and Yrs 3-6 at 2.20pm every second Friday.
Attendance
It is the law that children over the age of six attend school. In the case of a student’s absence it is necessary for the child to bring a letter of explanation when returning to school. If a student is unwell for an extended period of time (3-5 days) a phone call is appreciated. Please do not send your child to school if they are sick.
Students who arrive late or need to depart early must be accompanied by a parent and MUST report to the office to gain the Principal’s permission. A Blue Note (late arrival) or Yellow Note (Early Leave) for the class teacher will be issued. These partial absences are recorded in the class roll, which is a legal document and monitored regularly by the District Home School Liaison Officer. It is expected that medical and dental appointments are made out of school time.
Bus and Train Passes
Students in K-2 are eligible for free transport by bus or train to school. However, students in Yrs 3-6 are only eligible if they live more than 1.6 km from school. Application forms are available from the school office.
Canteen
There is a Healthy School policy, which the canteen supports. The canteen is open from Monday to Friday. Lunch and Recess orders must be handed in before 9.15am each day.
The canteen also will provide students with a healthy breakfast.

Medication
Requests for medicine to be administered at school must be made in writing to the principal and will only be considered if confirmed by instructions from a medical practitioner. Strict procedures are adhered to under these circumstances.
Most medicines can be given before and after school, even antibiotics, which can be given before, and after school and before bed.
Money Collection
Money brought to school, in an envelope marked with the child’s name and class, should be paid to the teacher immediately in the morning. Until then, students should keep their money in a zipped pocket. Large amounts of money or precious possessions should not be brought to school.
Nurse
The Child and Family Nurse from the St George Hospital and Community Health Service nurse visits regularly. The nurse will assess vision, hearing and speech and language. Parents’ permission is sought.
